Inhibition of Biofilm Formation in Yersinia enterocolitica by Edible Plant Extracts Including Polygoni Multiflori Radix

Yersinia enterocolitica, which causes yersiniosis, is a bacterium that produces biofilms effectively. The inhibition of biofilm formation provides method for preventing infections with Y. enterocolitica. In this study, the inhibitory activity enterocolitica was investigated in library 140 edible plant methanol extracts including forest products. It identified could be inhibited by 12 plants, Agastachis Herba, Agrimoniae Diospyros kaki leaves, Elsholtziae Ginkgonis Semen, Lycopi Melonis Pedicellus, Menthae Mori Radicis Cortex, Polygoni Multiflori Radix, Prunellae Spica, and Schizonepetae Spica. After changing solvent to ethanol water, greatest produced 50% extract Radix. A effectively prevent yersiniosis can developed using study.
